Download proof for a blockchain-anchored file
Published on: (Updated on: )

A proof PDF records the information associated with a file version that has been anchored on blockchain. It provides a portable record of the anchoring event and the file’s integrity reference, which can be retained with the file or shared with an authorized reviewer where appropriate.
Use a downloaded proof to support audit, compliance, investigation, dispute-preparation, or recordkeeping workflows where you may need to demonstrate that a particular file version was anchored and can be independently checked for integrity.
Before you begin
To download a proof:
- You must have access to the relevant cohort and file.
- The specific file version must have completed the anchoring process.
- The file version must show an Anchored status.
If the status is Queued, Pending, or otherwise incomplete, the proof is not yet available. Wait for the anchoring process to finish, then refresh the file details and check the status again.
Anchoring and proof are version-specific. If you upload a new version of a file, that new version has its own integrity reference and must be anchored separately.
Download the proof PDF
- Open the relevant cohort in Lexkeep.
- Go to the Documents area and locate the file.
- Open the file details and select the version for which you need proof.
- Confirm that the version status is Anchored.
- Open the actions menu for that file version.
- Select Download Proof (PDF).
- Save the downloaded PDF in an appropriate location, such as the relevant matter record, evidence bundle, audit file, or internal archive.
What the proof relates to
The proof relates to the exact file version that was anchored. It is not proof for every version of a document with the same name.
For example, if you upload a contract draft and later upload the executed contract, each version should be treated as a separate record for integrity purposes. Download the proof for the version you need to rely on, review, or preserve.
The proof may be used alongside the corresponding original file when providing records to an auditor, regulator, investigator, legal adviser, expert, or other authorized third party.
Good practice
When retaining a proof PDF:
- Keep it with the matching file version.
- Use clear file names that identify the document and version.
- Do not assume that proof for an earlier version applies to a later version.
- Preserve the original file in Lexkeep where possible.
- Review your cohort’s retention, access-control, and legal-hold requirements before sharing files or proofs externally.
A proof PDF supports the documented integrity and anchoring record. It should be considered together with the underlying file, relevant file-version information, and the surrounding audit trail where a complete record history is needed.
